Bio: The main professional career of Professor Askar Zhussupbekov is related to the problems in geotechnics and foundation engineering considering the special engineering and geological conditions of Astana city, the Central and Western Kazakhstan, soft soil ground of Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and also Central Asian countries, such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. He has published more than 300 international scientific papers, including 3 books on Geotechnical Engineering. He has been the Head and Professor of Department Civil Engineering and the Director of Geotechnical Institute at Eurasian National University. More notably, Prof. Zhussupbekov is the President of the Kazakhstan Geotechnical Society, and the Chair of TC 305 (ISSMGE) "Megacities". He served as the Vice-President of ISSMGE for Asia from 2010-2017.
